KERMIT PITT, MD PEDIATRIC CENTER
Pediatric Center named in honor Dr. Kermit Pitt, MD
Hope, healing and a deep love for children. That’s what you can expect from our highly experienced staff at the Kermit Pitt, MD Pediatric Center. We named our pediatric center in honor of Dr. Kermit Pitt because of his compassion and relentless dedication to the care of children and their families. Dr Pitt was the first board-certified pediatrician in Decatur who provided medical care to families in the Tennessee Valley for more than 50 years. In keeping with Dr. Pitt's care and compassion, The Kermit Pitt, MD Pediatric Center is a place that provides comfort and special care for our younger patients. The Center features five private rooms, five family suites, an adolescent activities room, children's playroom, recreation area and family conference room. Each of these bright and cheerful rooms is furnished with a TV/VCR for the children's entertainment. A variety of toys, video games and video library, including a bedside Sony Play Station II, are also available to help make our young patients have as many comforts from home as possible during their stay.
Keeping a family together during the hospitalization of a child is of the utmost importance at Decatur General. We want parents to stay in the room with their child and to help you keep your focus on your child we provide courtesy meals for families that will be staying with us. Our Registered Nurses are certified in pediatric advanced life support. All our services come with special consideration to the needs of pediatric patients including respiratory therapy, dietary, orthopedic and physical therapy.
